UK & EU Series: English Country Estates

Date
26 March 2021
Time
11:00 am - 12:00 pm
UKEurope

Join us for the latest on the trends impacting the English Country House sector. COVID has caused many HNW clients to look for new styles of property in rural areas. This demand has created new dynamics that professional advisors should be aware of including: the latest trends in the sales & valuation data, the response from landowners to shifting government policy and its impact on the rural economy, as well as a discussion of tax considerations.

We are delighted to welcome an expert panel featuring:

Tristan Ward - Partner and Head of Landed Estates and Agriculture, BDB Pitmans LLP, London. Tristan leads BDB Pitmans' landed estates and agriculture team. As well as having 25 years' experience as a property solicitor, he is a farmer's son and farmed his family farm alone and in partnership for 14 years. This gives him unparalleled practical knowledge of issues that arise in the sale, purchase and management of rural and agricultural property related matters.

In addition, Tristan is one of London's leading advisers in the residential property market, having been nominated by Chambers and Partners for the award of Residential Property Lawyer of the Year in 2018.

Mark Charter - Partner, Head of Estate Management, Carter Jonas, Oxford. Mark is a Partner at Carter Jonas' Oxford office and leads a team which advises the owners of a wide variety of estates, country houses and farms across the Home Counties and Cotswolds.

The team's role is wide ranging. From hiring and managing domestic staff, to fixing leaking taps, to managing livestock and farming operations, to improving biodiversity and the natural capital of the holding, to leading development strategies, undertaking complex valuations and advising on the purchase and sale of high value country properties.

Tim Gregory - Partner, Private Wealth & Estates Group, Saffery Champness, London. Tim is a partner and head of the firm's London office, responsible for the Business Advisory, Film & Television, Tax and Private Wealth & Estates groups.

He specialises in advising private clients in relation to all aspects of their financial affairs, whether they are owners of property, investment or business wealth, through private, trust, corporate or other ownership structures.

Tim's experience of working on both the private client side and with more commercially-focused businesses means he can provide fresh insight and give proactive and constructive advice to a wide variety of clients. Tim seeks to add value to his clients in advising on structural matters and special projects, often seeing more clearly the detail of how proposals will translate into practice.
