Join us for our weekly UK update, this week discussing considerations for UK residents thinking of moving offshore, particularly to Cayman. It will discuss the key tax and legal concepts that clients have to be aware of when planning their relocation. We are delighted to be joined by:

Chris Duggan - Chris is the Vice President of Business Development at Dart Real Estate, where he works with high-net-worth individuals to guide them through relocating their business or family to the Cayman Islands, and help them with resources, financial services, and more. He also manages the Cayman Alternative Investment Summit (CAIS), which brings together investors, fund managers, academics, economists, and regulators to discuss the relevant issues shaping the global alternative investment space. Prior to joining Dart, Chris worked as Head of Private Banking for Butterfield Bank, so brings extensive experience in corporate and private banking, corporate lending, and dealing with treasury to his role.

Jonathan Riley - Head of Private Wealth at Fladgate. Jonathan advises on a range of private client matters including how best to structure privately held wealth. This frequently involves matters of succession, inheritance and family governance. As part of this advice Jonathan advises in respect of UK tax and he frequently coordinates this with tax advice from other jurisdictions. Jonathan works with individuals, families, their trustees and their advisors. A large proportion of his work has an international element and he provides advice to clients who are not resident or domiciled in the UK as well as to those who are permanently UK based. Jonathan has particular experience of working with the owners of privately held businesses and the associated private wealth issues that typically arise. He is a member of The Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners, The International Bar Association and The International Academy of Estate and Trust Law. Jonathan is noted as a leading lawyer in both Chambers High Net Worth and the Legal 500 guides.

Sarah Cormack - Partner at Mills & Reeve, London. Sarah advises on the establishment of structures to hold assets in multiple jurisdictions is a particular focus and Sarah works closely with families to build a coherent succession strategy. Sarah has particular expertise in the establishment of private trust companies, foundations, and corporate and partnership vehicles. She works closely with families to develop the governance integral to these structures to accurately reflect the way in which families interact with each other. Her clients include both trustees and individuals, UK resident and non-UK resident families. Sarah has particular experience acting for clients from Russia and the CIS, Asia and the Middle East.
