The Luxury Asset sector has boomed in recent years as more HNW & UHNW clients become investors in alternative assets or collectors of passion assets.  During COVID, yachting & marine assets have boomed, others such as wine, art & jewellery have been collected by wealthy families for generations.  Some families with newly created wealth are discovering their taste for collecting for the first time.  

In a complex legal and governance environment for international families, this webinar will pull out the latest trends from some key Luxury Asset sectors.  It will also discuss some of the legal, tax and structuring traps that clients may fall into.    

We are delighted to take an international perspective for this discussion and to be joined by:

Sunita Singh-Dalal - Of counsel, Stephenson Harwood Middle East, Dubai.  Sunita leads the Middle East private wealth practice, where the team focuses on assisting clients in the Middle East, Africa and SouthWest Asia on cross border private client, wealth management, corporate, commercial and dispute resolution issues. 

As an active member of the private wealth community, Sunita is a full member of STEP (Africa and Arabia) and speaks at various international forums and conferences.  Sunita assists clients and advisers with topical matters in the UAE and GCC such as Succession Planning, Wealth Management as well as the implementation of Family Codes of Governance and Family Constitutions. 

Sunita is widely regarded as a leading authority within the private wealth community, which is reflected through her being recognised by Chambers & Partners High Net Worth Guide 2020 and 2021 as a ranked individual within the UAE.

Sunita has established intrinsic relationships with international private banks, financial advisers, trustees, corporate service providers and the local regulatory authorities.  Sunita actively works with the local regulators to spread global awareness of the latest developments and updates within the Middle East's private wealth sector, particularly in relation to the new Foundations and Trusts regimes implemented by the ADGM, DIFC and RAK ICC.

Henry Pruwer - Diamond & Fine Jewellery Specialist, HP Diamonds Ltd, London.  Diamond jewellery specialist Henry Pruwer is based in London and creates beautiful, bespoke pieces of jewellery, including diamond engagement rings. 

Henry’s fascination with diamonds started early, with regular visits to Belgium in his childhood years visiting his uncle, a renowned Antwerp diamond dealer, giving him a window into the captivating world of diamonds. After learning the  fundamentals of the jewellery trade, Henry later moved to Antwerp to work with his brother Marcel, who was president of the Antwerp Diamond Bourse. 

Henry became active in consultancy, advising regional African governments on employment creation through diamond mining, polishing and manufacture and working on the Antwerp Diamond Masterplan 2020 for the future of the industry, also becoming a certified diamond grader with the HRD Antwerp Diamond Centre. 

After 15 years in Antwerp, Henry moved back to London to set up his private client business, where trust, quality and respect are core values. Henry is a member of the London Diamond Bourse, working alongside a trusted network of artisans including jewellery designers, goldsmiths, diamond setters and polishers. Henry also carries out valuations, as well as remodelling client’s existing pieces of jewellery.

Nicolas Laurent - Global Head of Private Clients, Wine Portal, Singapore.  Nicolas advises (U)HNWIs around Asia on their wine purchases and collection management, whether it is for investment or consumption purposes. Before that he opened the Singapore office of London-based wine investment firm Cult Wines as South East Asia Associate Sales Director, and helped with their business development in South East Asia for two years and a half. This followed his four-year posting as Le Club FICOFI Advisor in Singapore, looking after 40+ UHNW Members of the world’s most exclusive wine club, by invite only. Prior to that he spent a combined two years and a half at Wine Connection in Singapore, and Bureau Stephane Fouquet in Bordeaux, as a Wine Speaker and Fine Wine Broker respectively.

Nicolas holds a Master’s Degree in International Business from KEDGE Business School in Bordeaux, and in 2015 he achieved his WSET Level 3 with Merit. When he does not practice tennis, golf and running, his interests include contemporary art, (fine) dining, cigars, timepieces, vinyls, and travelling the world. When in Singapore, he likes to mingle with other members of 67 Pall Mall, Straits Clan and FrenchFounders.

Chris Eaton -  Chairman,  ILS World, Isle of Man.  Chris Eaton is chairman of ILS World, a global provider of independent fiduciary services to professional advisers, international corporate groups and private clients.  

He is a prominent industry figure who has nurtured many long-standing relationships where he advises on wealth management, asset protection and succession planning to ensure the long-term stability of multi-jurisdictional estates. Many of his clients include collectibles, luxury and passion assets as part of their investment portfolios.

Peter Wallman - Owner, PJ Wallman Classic Sporting Motor Cars & Motor Boats, London.  Following his early career in the advertising industry in London, New York and Milan and a decade working with RM Sotheby's, the leading International auction house specialising in the world's finest classic motor cars, Peter recently launched his own brokerage and consultancy business, PJ Wallman Classic Sporting Motor Cars & Motor Boats. 

Peter’s primary objective is to share his passion, knowledge and experience with both experienced and new buyers helping them in their quest to locate and acquire the important, collectible, classic sporting motor car or motor boat they have been longing for.  In addition, Peter is a member of the Steering Committee for the Concours of Elegance in the UK which is held each year in summer at the Honourable Artillery Company in the City of London and in September at Hampton Court Palace, Windsor Castle, St James’s Palace or the Palace of Holyroodhouse.  Peter is also compere for these events and fluent in Italian.
