Finance Isle of Man was established last year as an executive agency of the Department for Enterprise. Its remit is to help Island businesses and entrepreneurs fulfil their potential, as well attract new business to the island and to act as a bridge between government and industry to help ensure the island's long-term economic prosperity. As a private/public partnership - Finance Isle of Man is tasked with collaborating with local industry in order to understand and best represent the needs of our finance sector.
To further support this private/public synergy, Finance Isle of Man has a board made up of private sector experts. Their main objectives are to create a shared vision for financial services industries and to be a forum that considers finance sector related strategic and policy issues and plan for short, medium and long-term industry growth.
The Isle of Man has a long tradition in financial services, with over 40 years of exceptional innovation and regulation that has led it to being an International Finance Centre of global regard.
The global environment is ever-changing and the Isle of Man will continue to adapt to meet the needs of the global market. Something that won't change however is the Island's commitment to international standards, regulation and our business community.
Though in its infancy, Finance Isle of Man has already begun to help make a difference in the changing face of financial services on the Island. The work of the Finance Agency saw two new financial services licenses granted, one an Asset Finance business and the other a new bank under the Alternative Banking Regime. The latter being a new representative office for a significant bank and who have been quick to begin developing a more significant presence on the Island.
Earlier this year saw the completion of phase one of the executive agency's first truly international campaign, 'Isle of Man For Life,' a private/public partnership, targeted at the international market to demonstrate the Isle of Man's strength as a jurisdiction for the life insurance industry and reached over a million people worldwide with the key message that the Isle of Man is strong, secure and stable jurisdiction and an international financial centre of excellence.
Further international campaigns are in the planning stages aimed at promoting the Isle of Man's financial services offering on a global scale in our pursuit to reinforce our message that the Isle of Man is an international finance centre of excellence. The latter half of 2019 will see a busy schedule of, face-to-face meetings, conferences and round tables in key markets such as Monaco, South Africa and Asia.
The real message we are taking everywhere is; what a great place the Isle of Man is to do business and when you think Isle of Man think an International Finance Centre where strength, security, stability and service are key.
