An Interview with Scott Sheldon

What do you do for Rockpool?  

At Rockpool I head up our Investor Recruitment Team and lead our efforts to design and implement a process for growing our investor base. I also manage a book of high-net-worth an intermediary clients who invest in our private equity and private debt opportunities. I build strong relationships with my network and work closely with clients to help them navigate the investment process and build an allocation to our private equity and private debt offering. Finally, I also sit on our Marketing Committee and contribute to the creation of campaigns which demonstrate the effectiveness of our services and attract new investors to work with us.  

What do you love most about your role? 

One of the things that really excites me about working at Rockpool is the variety of sectors that we invest into. We are sector neutral and invest in companies in a variety of industries, so I enjoy having the opportunity to learn about new companies and the markets they operate in. Alongside this I really value the diverse range of investors I work with. It’s fascinating to hear each investor’s backstory and understand their unique perspective and approach to investing. Finally, Rockpool is a small firm with a majority staff ownership, meaning we work closely as a team to deliver the best results for our clients and investors.  

What has been your greatest achievement? 

I recently passed the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) exam, which required an enormous amount of study, dedication and hard work due to the rigorous nature of the qualification. I am incredibly proud to have achieved this milestone, and I believe that it has helped me to develop the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in my role at Rockpool. It has given me a deeper understanding of the principles of investment management and has helped me to become a more effective and informed member of our team. 

Why did you join PCD? 

I joined PCD as I feel it is a fantastic opportunity to network with like-minded professionals and to connect and share knowledge with a range of individuals from a variety of backgrounds. I love meeting new people and learning from their experience and insight, and I feel that PCD is an excellent arena for networking, learning and growth.  

On a weekend, I am most likely found... 

I’m an experimental cook and enjoy taking on a new challenge in the kitchen.. My family lives in the Lake District so one of my favourite weekend past times is to take a trip to visit them and spend some time outdoors walking or cycling. It’s always nice to get out of London once in a while!
