Join us for a discussion relevant for advisors to HNW Sports and Entertainment Stars. The discussion will cover considerations for advisors in tax, law, wealth management & wealth structuring. The session is produced in partnership with Frank Hirth.

The discussion will be hosted on Zoom and include a live discussion with a distinguished panel, followed by small group discussions using Breakout Rooms to enhance the networking and discussion. This will allow our members to interact directly with each other and the panelists. A full guest list will be circulated to those that attend.

Matthew Pannell - Associate Director, Frank Hirth, London. Matthew is a dual qualified US and UK tax advisor and has been key to the development of Frank Hirth's Entertainers, Sports and Media function. Matthew advises American and European models, actors, actresses, musicians, athletes, and artists in the structuring of their transatlantic activities and associated compliance.

Aside from his work in the entertainment sector Matthew has a particular interest in the issues affecting individuals with international business interests. His client portfolio spans entrepreneurs at all stages of their business development through to key executives and founding partners of venture capital and private equity funds.

Matthew is a member of the Frank Hirth technical committee responsible for technical strategy, review of new and proposed legislation and formulation of firm wide technical positions. He is qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor in the UK and is enrolled to practice before the IRS in the US. In 2019 Matthew was awarded CityWeath Accountant of the Year - Gold Award. He has also been recognised in the CityWealth future leaders list and the ePrivateClient Top 35 under 35 list.

Alex Jones - Director, Frank Hirth, London. Alex is a US and UK personal tax advisor with 30 years' experience providing complex planning and assistance to high net worth individuals. He returned to Frank Hirth in August 2017 after an absence of 16 years, the last 10 of which he spent in a leadership role in Deloitte's US/UK High Net Worth Practice in the UK.

Alex specialises in clients connected to the funds industry such as investment professionals, as well as business owners and entrepreneurs. He advises on the US/UK interactions on personal income, capital and social security, estate and Inheritance taxes and the use of trusts.

He is particularly noted in respect of the application of the UK/US tax treaty, including pension issues, the UK treatment of LLC interests, carried interests and FATCA. Alex is licenced to practice before the Internal Revenue Service in the US (Enrolled Agent), sits on the British American Business Inc (BABi) Tax Forum and has been a very regular speaker at the US Professional Association and its predecessor organisations over the last 20 years.

Bilal Mirza - Consultant - Head of Sports Insurance, DAC Beachcroft, London. Bilal specialises in Insurance, Sports and Events. He is recognised for his specialist sports insurance and events practice as well as being a leading catastrophic and complex injury lawyer. Bilal leads a team of specialist sports insurance lawyers and delivers industry insight with a particular focus on insurance sports law.

His sports law practice includes advising on all insurance related sports matters to include, policy wording, indemnity, liability risk, injuries and coverage as well as sports related Litigation and Arbitration, protecting the interest of the clubs, teams, individuals as well as the National Governing Bodies, Corporates and stakeholders. He has a particular focus on working with National Governing Bodies, Corporates on a strategic, insurance and commercial Basis. Bilal advises HNW individuals, sports persons and teams on bespoke commercial and insurance requirements and has a particular niche on providing bespoke and discrete secondary ghost litigation support in HNW and UHNW claims.

Jonathan Gold - Executive Director, US Family Office, London & Capital, London. Jonathan is an Executive Director within the US Family Office and advises high and ultra-high net worth individuals and trusts on the structuring and management of their international wealth.

Prior to joining London & Capital, Jonathan was a Director at a Global Bank, where he provided a range of financial services including discretionary & advisory investment management, wealth structuring and credit solutions.

Jonathan is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and holds the Investment Management Certificate and Series 65 qualification. He has been listed in the Top 50 HNW Wealth Manager section in the Spears 500 index every year since its inception in 2014. Jonathan lives with his wife and two children in Hertfordshire.

Alasdair Wilson - Senior Associate, Harbottle & Lewis, London. Alasdair advises UK and international clients on their private wealth, which includes cross-border tax matters, structuring assets held across different jurisdictions, global succession planning and wealth protection. His clients include individuals, families and professional fiduciaries.

Alasdair regularly deals with the implementation of international trust structures for the purposes of asset protection, tax efficiency or the devolution of family wealth.

He is an associate member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP).
